This is pretty cool! Here is a brief mention in the College of Architecture & Planning’s most recent newsletter. It doesn’t say much that we haven’t already said, but we really like getting the shout-out! Thanks CAP!
“MLA STUDENTS BUILD DENVER URBAN TRUCK FARM
Sunday, June 27, 9:00am-1:00pm – Old South Pearl Street Farmer’s Market, 1500 block of South Pearl Street between Florida Avenue and Iowa Avenue, Denver
Ashleigh Quillen and Ryan Sotirakis, Master of Landscape Architecture students, have started the Denver Urban Truck Farm. This is urban agriculture presented in a whole new way. They used components of a green roofing system to build the farm in an empty 1966 Ford truckbed. They want to show Denver (and beyond) that growing your own food can happen in even the most unlikely of places. Remnants of the past can literally become new vehicles for growing food – like the tomatoes, peppers, cabbages, shallots, onions, cilantro and Boxwood basil they have planted here. Visit Ashleigh and Ryan at Denver’s Old South Pearl Street Farmer’s Market every Sunday and buy one of their t-shirts!”
